Private camping, impressive sunsets

Truly a well cared for and beautiful natural and private scenery. We stayed at the 10 acres private camp ground with two dogs and loved it. You stop at the house to greet Grant and his wife and then head down to the camp site. The road is a combination of gravel, rock, and dirt. Any four wheel drive car is recommended but the road is clearly well maintained! When you arrive there are two spots to choose from both offering fire pits with stone surrounds and quick access to an outdoor open air toilet. The camping spots are on a sort of bluff with steep hill sides on each side and a cliff at the end. There is more than enough space and you are in no way living on the edge, but just something to be aware of with kids and to address. The camp site was well cared for. And provided a beautiful sunset with autumnal trees. Through the remaining leaves we got some good star viewing. They have also done a beautiful job adding lighting to make the area feel magical. Our dogs loved being off leash and exploring, there was also plenty of downed wood and bark for kindling. Grant was a very friendly and welcoming host, and made himself available for any concerns!

Fairy Garden

The fairy garden was super cool. We slept under the twinkle of those lights. It was a great secluded spot with a cool hike down to the waterfall. Would highly recommend

We had the most wonderful weekend! The primitive site was incredibly private and beautiful! The road to the campground necessitates some clearance. We drive an Outback so it wasn't a problem, but a low clearance car might have some struggle .Once you are there you are in a retreat. We felt safe, and Grant and Becky were very willing to make our weekend. The walk to the waterfall, and the scramble down to the base were beautiful. The other rentable structures on the grounds also looked well kept and unique. We highly recommend Grant and Becky's little slice of heaven.

Wonderful!

We loved our stay at the primitive tent site. Very private. Lots of wonderful nature sounds and wildlife. Grant was a great host and very personable. We met him at his house, and he showed us where we could hike the falls. We also got to see one of his other rentals that we have made plans to rent in the future. He has some very unique places to stay. The falls were dry, but that was good for us because we hiked the creek bed to the second waterfall and a bit farther. It was a rugged hike over lots of boulders that just my husband and I were on. We really loved having the hike to ourselves which is harder to do if you are at a state park. But be aware that it is very rugged and downhill. I found the hike back up the rocks to be easier for some reason. It can be slippery in places. I wore a pair of Brooks and was fine but wished for hiking boots. Some other nice touches at the site included a fire log and of course, the fairies. The view is beautiful! The leaves on the trees make it difficult to see, but in places you still can.

Fun in the Rain

My husband and I stayed at the large primitive site with our 2 dogs ! Campsite was lovely we enjoyed walking around the woods and down to Millers Falls ! We got hit with some rain but lucky had all the right gear, The rain was actually really peaceful coming through the trees. Really loved the privacy and not running into any other campers. All and all we had a wonderful time. Would definitely return.

Both a campsite & lovely experience

Wow. What began as a convenient campsite on the way home from the Smoky Mountains ended up as a full, invigorating, and even fantastical experience. Grant offers multiple options on his many acres of land, each with its own list of amenities, beginning with a fire pit and designated hole (to relieve yourself). There are two options for this "level" of primitive experience and they sit safely atop an overlook surrounded by hills - and this is what we booked, not knowing what else was available at the time. It's the camping experience you're looking for - private, plenty of wild life and forest to explore, fire pit - and Grant knows his land very well so he can point you in the direction of beautiful caves, moss rocks, waterfalls, creeks, and a river. This is what we hoped for and we had the experience we were seeking. As for Grant's home, it's far from the site and quite a trek on foot to get there, so it feels as private as can be. If you're interested, Grant will provide a tour of the other options he has available including a Glampsite at the edge of a waterfall cliff (!), a tree house, an outdoor kitchen, and he's currently putting together a yurt. We didn't realize what else was available to us in the form of Grant, his philosophy for life and his land, why he enjoys making his land available to travelers like ourselves, and the love he puts into his work. He's one of the most giving people we've had the pleasure of meeting, and we hope you decide to as well! S&C

This is an amazing spot, you have to see it to believe it. Hosts are amazing as well, it’s our second time staying on the property and there is much to explore… very secluded, very quiet. One of our favorite spots!

Primitive camping

Great primitive campground facing the the sunset to watch over a cliffside or enjoy by the campfire! It was just me and my dog and it was a great getaway with great hiking down the road! Unfortunately the creek and falls where dried out with the heat but looks like a great site when there is water. Was just what we needed to getaway and Grant was very kind and hospitable!

Camping with Our Dogs!

We loved camping at Grants land! We had an entire area to ourselves. Couldn’t hear anyone else at the other campsites, we knew they were there because he gave us a tour on his off-road UTV! There are so many trees, it’s beautifully shaded. We walked down to a waterfall from our campsite and our dogs loved it. We camped in Primitive Camping and an outdoor nature was provided which was nice. There is a nice fire pit we used and plenty of flat ground to pitch tents on. Getting in and out is easy and it’s down the street from a very small lake called Grundy Lakes. He rented us his double kayak for the day, we strapped it onto our 4Runner and went down the road for some fun in the sun. Grant and Becky are such sweet humans and we cannot wait to come back in the fall. We also bought firewood from them, which was quite literally the best wood we’ve ever burned. Two bundles lasted 2 full nights! There is so much to see, it’s. Beautiful drive, nice, quiet and very peaceful. There are restaurants, a bakery, store and gas stations in a cute little town 14 minutes from their property if you forget or need anything. 10/10 we highly recommend staying here if you’re in Tennessee and want to spend some time at some waterfalls, hike trails in the beautiful nature this state has to offer and just reset. Thank you again Grant & Becky! Looking forward to seeing y’all again soon!

We stayed at the “primitive site”. There was so much space, the views were amazing. We really felt secluded. The Fairie story was sweet. Grant was so kind and showed us to our site and took time to get to know us, he was full of recommendations for the area. We are antisocial campers who really appreciate feeling isolated, we did have some curious visitors who came to check out the fairies around 10pm with very bright flash lights. Grant did mention that people may pay a visit to our Fairie campsite to see the lights glow, so it’s possible you may not have this area to yourself 100% of the time. Regardless I will be coming back for future stays:)

Escape to a wooed retreat.

We enjoyed visiting Grant's property for our 5-month old son's first camping adventure. As experienced campers - with dogs, we love to find a secluded primative site where we can let the dogs run off-leash and enjoy the solitude of nature. Grant's property and specifically the primative site was great for this. Grant greeted us at the house, and showed us to the property. He was welcoming and gave us the lay of the land as well as the history behind it, including the stories of the fairies who live on site. We were too late in the season to enjoy the expansive views of the valley, and too early in the season to enjoy the abundance of fairies, but the wooded site was perfect(one fairy seen). We didn't venture far off property to hike(many great options nearby-including fantastic restaurants), but you don't need to with the falls on property. We did wish the trail to the second falls (down by the creek), and cave were better marked, but it added to the adventure. Incredible that Miller Falls is on private land, and you explore it as if it was your own! Knowing we were with our 5-month old, Grant added confidence in the chance of rain. Instructions are easy to follow, and experience positive. It was good to have 4-wheel drive for the trail to the primative site, but when dry, not needed. We DO want to come back for the glamping tent - right near the falls and such a gorgeous set up.

Disconnect and Unwind

We booked a weekend getaway on the Primitive Property campsite and we had an absolutely amazing time! Grant was very sweet and welcoming, and only a phone call away if we needed anything! Hiking around the site was incredibly beautiful! We wanted a weekend of disconnect and adventure and that’s exactly what we got staying here! My only complain is that we didn’t book an extra night or two. 10/10 recommended, thanks Grant and Becky for having us!

Millers lookout is a real adventure! It feels a bit off the beaten path. Like exploring nature the real way, there are paths of course. But we had lots of beautiful fall leaves covering everything. We discovered the waterfall which was a neat little hike. The glamping tent looks really lovely. Grant was super helpful and kind, a wonderful host! We want to go back again! Our stay was relaxing and beautiful.

The site was wonderful! We got in right at sunset, and it was stunning to see the light set behind the mountains through the trees. Our hosts were wonderful and kind, and once they left us, we truly felt secluded and private. Will soon be returning for more!

I loved my stay at the Millers’! I was just here camping for one night, but one night was long enough for me to see how much they care about their guests’ experience. They shared stories and fresh vegetables from their garden, and their generosity made my stay one to remember!

Grant was an extremely welcoming host, who gave us a full tour of his land and a breakdown of where to go outside of his property as well. The space was clean, welcoming and very secluded. It was beautiful getting to hear the sounds of nature, build a fire and celebrate the outdoors. I would definitely stay at one of Grant's spaces again.
